Your Step-by-Step Guide to Provincial Nomination
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) allow provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and live in a specific province. Here is how the process works.
The Application Process
- Check Your Eligibility: Every province has its own criteria and 'streams' (e.g., Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entrepreneur).
- Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI): Many provinces use an EOI system similar to Express Entry to rank and select candidates.
- Receive a Notification of Interest (NOI): If you meet the criteria, the province will invite you to apply for a nomination.
- Application Submission: Submit a complete application directly to the province with all supporting documents and pay the provincial processing fee.
- Nomination Approval: If approved, you receive a nomination certificate which gives you 600 points in Express Entry (for 'enhanced' streams) or allows you to apply for PR directly to IRCC (for 'base' streams).
📝 Note
A PNP nomination is a commitment. You must intend to live and work in the province that nominated you.
